Fall update 2022

NAjpgOh my! I haven’t given an update in about a year. What a slacker! Not really… I’ve been so busy with creating content that I forget to do these little housekeeping things. Please forgive me.

First, I want to thank everyone who wished me well during and after my surgery and recovery at the end of last year. I am all better now, so no worries! I appreciate the cards, messages, and hearts while I was laid up. ♥♥♥

Second, I want to say thank you ♥ to everyone who’s been chatting with me about Artistic License 2 on Facebook and IG. If you haven’t heard of this news! Well, then, you haven’t been hanging out with me on the socials. I’ve been super busy, but I still check in regularly with FB and IG. So follow me there, please!

Now, all the new stuff that has been happening! And wow, since last year there is alot!

HCWinter2022CoverDespite my quietness here, I have been writing alot! Not as many publications this year as I usually get under my belt, but I’ve been working on a lot of fiction things, especially long-form, so you know that takes a bit of time. I’ve also been restructuring the HorrorAddicts.net site, podcast, blog, and press! Wow… a lot of work, but so worth it as going forward, we will have more audio to listen to via Audible and a new digital magazine called Horror Curated. We’re launching in November, so no doubt you’ll hear about that next time. 🙂

Summer 2021 Update!

Well, I missed Spring, but hey… I almost made it in Summer. Hahaha! I figure since the kids go back to school (real school! not Zoom :)! ) next week, I better get my butt in gear and get an update to you about your favorite stories, series, and new stuff.

HHCoverPromoThe most exciting thing that’s happened recently is the publication of Haunts and Hellions, my brainchild anthology of gothic romance stories. The gathering was an experience I didn’t expect. Although we all know what gothic romance is and anyone can write a love story with a little spookiness in it, for some reason the submitters had trouble getting stories in my wheelhouse. They were either horror, with not enough romance, or romance, without enough horror. An odd predicament came to me. What if I didn’t get enough stories for the book I’d been dreaming of reading since the thought woke me at night a few years ago? What if no one understood what I wanted or couldn’t deliver enough stories for me to put together? Well, I’m happy to say that I did find the choice few that thrilled me and fit the bill. There are actually three tales in here from me. I wasn’t planning to have so many, but sometimes when you start an anthology list, there is just something missing here or there. Follow the link to enjoy:

  • “Lighthouse Legend” by Emerian Rich – Poem: A lighthouse ghost mourns her love lost at sea.
  • “Left Behind” by Emerian Rich – A young girl is struck with polio in 1916 New York, but her illness lingers and she is left behind as all her friends either die or recover. Is her mother keeping her ill for a reason? And will her handsome cousin be able to save her?
  • “Hungry Masses” by Emmy Z. Madrigal – Based on a real ship from history that was never found, this story stars Miss Vivienne, who finds herself on a ship off the coast of Australia with a deadly plague overcoming the passengers. Can they reach land before she catches it or will she have to abandon ship with the cute young doctor battling the disease?

Coming later this year, I am ecstatic to be releasing Northanger, my modern, YA, rewrite of Jane Austen’s book. It mixes my two favorite things… Romance and Horror! It’s kind of a Gossip Girl, meets Clueless, meets Lydia from Beetlejuice. Not only is it my first rewrite of a classic tale, but it also is my first full-length novel featuring a goth gal like myself. Yes, I am beyond excited. So, stay tuned for news about that!

Thank you for all the well-wishes over the last couple months and I hope your families are healthy and safe as we encounter a new world where “safe” isn’t what we expected. It’s okay, though, we will survive this! Just keep those masks on and we’ll get through this! 🙂

New Year Update 2021!

Last fall when I did the Fall Update, I promised myself to do the next update on a more regular time schedule. I mean, I actually wrote it in the calendar and everything! O.O WOW.

So, here we are. This is the NEW YEAR update! It’s 2021 and I know you are just like me, hoping this year brings happiness, healthiness, and… hopefully some outdoor outing like things!

This weekend, I’ll be embarking on my annual writer’s retreat only, it’s not getting in the car, driving up north, and staying in a hotel. This time, I’ll be barricading the office door and hiding out writing all weekend in the comfort (but not so luxurious) confines of my own home. I’m planning what to do. I mean, I have my desk and office chair, that’s nice… but what about those other areas I use to dream and create while on retreat? Perhaps I should bring in a comfy chair, some blankets, pillows? A tent? Make a fort like when I was a kid? Hmmm… the ideas are churning. I’ll be sure to share what I come up with.

The most exciting thing I’ll be accomplishing *crossing fingers* is the inputting of my final edit of Northanger, my modern, YA, rewrite of Jane Austen’s book that will be coming out later this year. Fall 2020 Update

The last time I updated you was quite a bit ago. Before the world really knew what the last 7 months would be like. Before masks came into style and we got used to spending Friday nights in, curled up with our favorite books or streaming service instead of going to dinner or a movie. I’m sorry to be away so long without an update, but I’m sure you have been just as caught up in this mess as I have been. The new normal is not very pleasant, but we persevere… hoping one day we’ll be able to go out and converse and share times with our extended families and friends like old times.

End of Year Update, 2018

Oh man… I just realized I haven’t updated you guys in a year or so. However, if you’ve been following my main blog, my Facebook, Twitter, or my romance blog, you will know I’ve been busy. 2019 promises to be a much bigger year for my fiction as I have let go of a non-fiction project that was eating up all my imagination time. 🙂 I am also going to be launching two major audio projects in 2019. Research!!!

I’ve been writing a book for some years now that is a modern re-write of Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey. It’s taking a long time, but I love the story so much. The thing I didn’t

count on with this new book is all the strange research I’ve had to do about snow and weather.

Without giving too much away, I’ve had to study…

  • How long it takes for a snowmobile to get from my main house in the story to another house in bad conditions? About 20 minutes.
  • What the weather is like in New York City (41-40 F), Connecticut (38-37 F), and New Jersey (40-43 F) at Christmas time?
  • How snowboarding compares to skiing in skill level: skiing is easier to learn but harder to master, and snowboarding harder to learn and easier to master.
  • What time the sun sets in New Jersey on Christmas Eve: approximately 4:33 p.m.

Almost Fall Update, 2017

Biters, Sweet Dreamers, Readers and Listeners,

This has been such a crazy busy year so far and I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon. That is a good thing though. Always better to be busy than sitting around wondering what to do. Happy to state I am walking. My foot isn’t at 100%, but it will get there! I have faith! Or, I’m just being super optimistic so maybe my foot will get the hint! Wheelchair time pro tip?  After you recover, you need physical therapy to help you walk again, because if you aren’t given that and start walking normally, you might injure the foot in another way. -.- Dumb me! But, I had never been unable to walk for so long and so I did not realize this. Now I am in PT to correct the Achilles injury I have caused by walking on a foot that wasn’t quite ready yet. -.-

Despite continuing foot issues, I shall not let it stop me! I’ve got some new reading, a little podcast listening and much more for you. I am most excited about my sequel to Night’s Knights coming within the next month or so. That’s right! Dusk’s Warriors will be out before October–if it kills me! And it just might. After several delays and a new cover, I think we are finally ready to launch!

  • Working on a WWII Non-fiction publication of letters from that time period.
  • More Sweet Dreams news, I’ve started a spin off. Same high school and some overlapping characters, but about two younger people who fall in love. They are juniors, so their story is told in the same time period as the other Sweet Dreams stories. I’m tentatively calling it First Love. Not sure what format I will burst out this series with, but look for it coming soon. Update: Still working on this!
  • New activity book with coloring pages, word finds, and crocheting patterns coming this summer! Update: Not sure when this is coming now, but still working on it.
  • “Ink Dreams” is on hold, but I hope to have more news soon.
  • Dusk’s Warriors, the print version sequel to my vampire novel, Night’s Knights, is done! It will be out by October of 2017. Check out the new cover to the right.
  • Northanger: I am working hard on the modern rewrite of Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey. I have my “holes” list and I’ll be filling them in soon.
  • Phantom rewrite – I just decided a year or so ago to do this… the ideas are still churning. After watching Love Never Dies, it rekindled my interest in Phantom’s tale.
  • Rich and Roulo #3: Coming in 2017 – Not sure of theme?
  • “Beauty Box” – PUBLISHED! See above.

New Year Update, 2017

Biters, Sweet Dreamers, Readers and Listeners,

2016 was happily waved goodbye by many of us. I was equally glad to see it go. 2017 promises to be a better and more productive for me, I hope! Many of you have sent get well notes to me because of my foot injury and subsequent two months in a wheelchair. Well, I am happy to report all your well wishes and prayers have finally sunk in! I am now walking in a boot and hope to soon be able to walk/drive again. 🙂

Despite my ailment, life goes on and so has my writing. My most exciting news bit is the publication of Lord Harrington’s Lost Doe, my first foray into Regency Romance. I’ve got some other new reading, a little podcast listening and much more for you. For all of you emailing to ask about your favorite series, I hope this answers some questions. Thank your for your interest! I just wish I had about four more of me so I could get it all done. 🙂
