Updates for the new year

Just in case you thought I fell off the face of the earth, I have some updates in my little busy writing life going on like a runaway train.

First, if you missed it, please find my 2011 Holiday Window Review. I’ve done this every year since 2008 for my peeps over at dashPunk and it just keeps getting more interesting. A little known fact about me is that I went to school for window design, so it’s kinda up my alley. It’s fun to use my window decorating taste at least once a year! Follow the links below if you’ve missed them:

Now on to writing news:

  • Undecided, the 4th book in the Sweet Dreams Series is completed!  As some of you know, I still insist on writing long hand, so the book is written, but I am just giving you my computer word count when I update you. So far, 36, 105 words have made themselves onto the the computer page! I have a few first readers started on this sequel and I hope to podcast it in a few months. For those of you who have not heard– or need a reminder– the Sweet Dreams Game is going on right now and one of you players is going to win an awesome one-of-a-kind book prop!  Victoria’s lyric songbook!  Don’t miss out on your chance to win. Play free now!
  • Finally finished and submitted the vampire short story √
  • Started (please don’t ask my why when I have 100 projects out there unfinished) a “Haunted Item” short story. I just really love the cover art (again) and can’t pass up the chance to be between the pages. It’s set in flapper days. And I don’t know too much about it yet because I just started it!
  • Dusk Warriors, the vampire sequel to Night’s Knights is still going on podcast. Ugga… I feel like I will never finish podcasting it. I will though. Worked on it some last night and plan to again tomorrow. Some of you have asked when it will be in print. I have no clue. It’s now in a big mess of a box with notes scrawled all over it. It might not be this year. The next book out will be Artistic License! :)
  • Still working on the scripts for GothHaus 3, The Gothmazing Race. This and the Season 7 HorrorAddicts.net lineup are moving along… whether I’m ready for them to or not!
ANTHOLOGIES:
  • Waiting on a few more pieces so I can send out the Wicked’s anthology PDF for the gals to do a once over before I print the proof. Hoping this is soon (Come on laggy ladies! You know who you are!)
  • Horror Disaster Anthology… the cast is set. (Waiting on a couple contracts, but late additions is all.) And it’s on the editor’s desk.

New Stuff to Read & Listen to!

Finished projects to buy / read / listen to:

Now for what I’m working on:

  •  Sweet Dreams #4 (Undecided) update:
  • Finished the Sweet Dreams game for fans this winter. It’s sort of an interactive, play along at home kinda thing and I’m super thrilled to roll it out to you all. Keep your eyes open for it soon!  It begins on December 25th, so I will probably roll it out this coming week.
  • Working on a short vampire story about someone in history – not going well. Excellent opening, ending is blah… might not make the deadline!
  • Have a collaboration going on with a friend of mine – short story – I’m excited to see where it goes.
  • Working on the scripts for GothHaus 3, The Gothmazing Race. We have new charries and old. I’m on about the 4th ep of 13, so long way to go.
  • Dusk Warriors Chapter 17 podcast will hopefully be done soon, and this is only one of a few more that will finish this book up.
  • The two Horror Addicts Anthologies are trucking along at their own pace. They will both be pub in 2012. One is being a breeze… the other is having issues at every turn, but… I am sure they will both be fab when complete. We have a whole bunch of talented authors involved.

And… time for a break! Back to work soon!

Undecided Update 12.7.11

I worked a lot on Sweet Dreams #4 (Undecided) tonight.
Up to:

I actually couldn’t wait to be done with the book before I gave it to one of my first readers. Hoping to be done with with it by the end of January… then it will really go out to the first readers. Hope to podcast soon after.

Finished the “something really exciting” for the Sweet Dreams fans for this winter. It’s sort of an interactive, play along at home kinda thing and I’m super thrilled to roll it out.  I might put out a teaser soon, but the game doesn’t officially start till Christmas Day.

Busy, busy, busy! Just wanted to update the Sweet Dreamers.

Something That Makes Me Smile

All writers have those down weeks…

  • You haven’t received any fan mail in awhile.
  • Your current project isn’t going as you wished.
  • A couple of rejection letters popped into your email box.
  • You get a hater review on Amazon or iTunes.

This is not one of those weeks because I’ve had some really good things happen recently…

  • Two short stories have been published.
*Holy Rites, is now available in thePodioracket publication, Glimpses
*Wide Awake, is now available in the Flying Island Press publication, Pieces of Eight, Autism Acceptance.
  • I’ve made some real progress on four major projects I’m working on right now.
  • I’ve received a lot of recent listener/reader mail lately – which I absolutely love. How cool to have people talk about my characters and obsess about them the way I do! It’s absolutely the radest thing ever.
  • I’m on the home stretch of my 4th musical romance book, Undecided.
  • Night’s Knights has stayed up at #1 in the SciFi FREE Kindle list for a week, #2 in Horror/Ghosts, and hit #46 in the overall Kindle list. (I was happy to just hit under the 100 mark.)

And speaking of Night’s Knights, here is something that makes me smile. Never in a million years did I think people would be reading my books across the world, let alone be able to buy them in many different countries. Check out this graphic with my book displayed in several different countries on the various Amazon sites.

Now…. THAT MAKES ME SMILE.

Thank you all for your continued support!
Now, back to writing.

SD#4: Undecided

Loving how Undecided is coming out. Two new heart-throbs for the gals to swoon over.

Ian, the bad boy drummer and James, the high school quarterback.

We get to see more of day to day school life of Victoria and Cynthia. I’m using a lot of digital tech in this book. Emails, txts, IM’s. I really love that when I watch a movie or read a book with that sort of thing… it’s a part of our daily lives, so why not utilize it, right?

For you Raul lovers, you get more of him too. I have someone coming up in One More Try that will bleed into Undecided to give her a little background. She’s not a good girl.

Still pecking away at it!

Back to Sweet Dreams with Undecided

I plunged back into the world of Sweet Dreams again after a few months concentrating on AL.

The 4th book that cropped up between True Love and One More Try is titled Undecided.

It follows Victoria and Cynthia, back at school after Steve’s attack.

Victoria must heal, deal with school gossip about how she got the wound, and suffer the time away from Rob as best she can.

Cynthia must battle her emotions about Derek and what she told him to do – get over Laura – while also dealing with her mother’s voltaic personality.

Will our two gals make it to graduation without getting in any more scrapes? No one knows.

Cynthia does a lot of soul searching in this book. We also get to see a bigger part of Raul’s life.

30% of the way doesn’t sound like much, but… it’s coming! I’ve written over 8,000 words this weekend! If only there were a few more holidays to get this puppy finished. :)

Stay tuned here for more word counts and all the news on what I’m working on.

TVD Project

I looked over an old novel, started in 2005 today. It’s called The Vicar’s Daughter and is only about two chapters right now. I have to say, though, that the love story in TVD is rather exciting. This will be a straight Victorian romance/drama sort of story. No horror in it unless you count poor Emelia’s evil father.

It’s strange how much you learn as a writer over just a small amount of time. I think I learn something new every time I read a work or write a new tale or edit a story submitted to me. That’s why I always tell new authors to write, write, read, and write! I think that is also why it takes us authors so long to let a story go… I could edit stories over and over and over and still not come out without a mark.

Other work tonight consisted of straightening out the last few chapters of my currently podcasted vampire sequel, Dusk’s Warriors, and working on the Horror Disaster Anthology I’ve started. Lots of busy work tonight.

It was nice reading something fresh today like TVD. I probably won’t work on it any time soon though– as I have so many other projects that I want to get to. My next big project, as I’ve been talking about here already is AL. Once that is complete, I want to work on my Northanger Abbey reboot. I’m really excited about that one. Have tons of notes and the basic story outline mapped out in my mind.

So, TVD will have to stay in it’s infancy. Sorry Emelia… your story will be halted until I can get back to you!
